EG Industries Berhad is an electronic manufacturing services providing company, shall commit to be socially responsible company, establishes standards to ensure that working conditions are safe, that workers are treated with respect and dignity, and that business operations are environmentally responsible and conducted ethically.

EG Industries Berhad committed to implement Business Code of Conduct (BCOC) and the Code is made up of five sections. Sections A, B and C outline standards for Labor, Health and Safety and the Environmental, respectively. Section D adds standards relating to business ethics. Section E outlines the elements of an acceptable system to manage conformity to this Code.


Labor

EG Industries is committed to uphold the human rights of workers, and to treat them with dignity and respect as understood by the international community. Recognized standards such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), Social Accountability International (SAI) and the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) were used as references in preparing the Code. The labor standards are Freely Chosen Employment, Young Workers, Working Hours, Wages & Benefit, Humane Treatment, Non Discrimination, and Freedom of Association.


Health and Safety

EG Industries recognize that the quality of products and services, consistency of production, and workers’ morale, are enhanced by a safe and healthy work environment. SMT also recognize that ongoing worker input and education is the key to identifying and solving health and safety issues in the workplace. Recognized management systems such as ISO 45001 and ILO Guidelines on Occupational Safety and Health were used as references in preparing the Code and the health and safety standards are Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Occupational Injury and Illness, Industrial Hygiene, Physically Demanding Work, Machine Safeguarding, Sanitation, Food and Housing and Health and Safety Communication


Environmental 

EG Industries recognize that environmental responsibility is integral to producing world-class products. In manufacturing operations, adverse effects on the community, environment and natural resources are to be minimized while safeguarding the health and safety of the public. Recognized management systems such as ISO 14001 and the Eco Management and Audit System (EMAS) were used as references in preparing the Code and the environmental standards are Environmental Permits and Reporting, Pollution Prevention and Resource Reduction, Hazardous Substances, Solid Waste, Air Emissions, Materials Restrictions, Water Management, Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gas Emissions.


Ethics 

EG Industries is committed to uphold the highest standards of business integrity, among the SMT employees and all interested parties. Commits to the highest standards of Integrity and Transparency in its Business Practices and Behavior to Protect the Interest of the Shareholders, Employees, Creditors, Customers and the General Public by complying to Business Integrity, No Improper Advantage, Disclosure of Information, Intellectual Property, Fair Business, Advertising and Competition, Protection of Identity and Non-Retaliation, Responsible Sourcing of Minerals and Privacy.

Management System 

EG Industries shall adopt or establish a management system whose scope is related to the content Code. The management system shall be designed to ensure

(a) compliance with applicable laws, regulations and customer requirements related to the TM SMT operations and products;
(b) conformance with this Code; and
(c) identification and mitigation of operational risks related to this Code.


It should also facilitate continual improvement. The management commits and complies to Company Commitment, Management Accountability and Responsibility, Legal and Customer Requirements, Risk Assessment and Risk Management, Improvement Objective, Training, Communication, Worker Feedback, Participation and Grievance, Audit and Assessments, Corrective Action Process, Documentation and Records and Supplier Responsibility
